March 11th – 3:53pm eastern daylight time
A mosquito bit me.
It wasn’t the dusky west-nile-disease mosquito so I wasn’t worried about getting sick from the bite. Nevertheless it concerned me. On a normal mid-March afternoon I would not be outside raking leaves. No, I’d be under the blankets shivering in bed, watching repeats of Gilligan’s Island.
But today…I was so warm while raking that I tossed my sweatshirt over a branch. A branch that was sunning little red buds out there in the sun. I might have even got myself a farmer’s tan today. Down to a t-shirt in mid-March? That ain’t right.
Imagine how the mosquito felt.
